Dano's Blunts - Fine Cannabis - Est. 1970
Carved, Never Measured

Every Dano's Blunt is shaped by hand and by eye. Nothing is measured — only formed. Each piece starts as a single hardwood pen blank and ends as a one-of-one smoking instrument, sealed and polished to last for years.

320-Grit Chamber, Carbonized by You

Production sands every combustion chamber to a clean 320 grit. From there the piece is yours to season: burning your herb grows the resin layer of carbonization, smoke by smoke, until the chamber wears its own natural carbon coat. The result is a hard, glassy chamber that seasons with use instead of souring.

Pure Wax Exterior

The only topicals that ever touch the outside are 100% beeswax or 100% carnauba wax — both food-safe and harmless, holding the wood at a soft satin glow. Each blunt goes through several warm wax baths and sandings before it ships. The wood stays hydrated, the grain stays deep, and the piece resists cracking.

Adjustable Screen

A built-in adjustable screen sets your draw exactly where you want it. Durable and shatter-resistant — this is not glass, it is hardwood.

Three Silhouettes

Short (Bic-sized) for the pocket, Torpedo for the classic taper, and Full for the slow session. Every bore runs an estimated 45-50 ring gauge. Orders placed at a specific ring gauge are measured and checked for accuracy before they ship.

The Story

Dano's Blunts started at a workbench, not a factory. Each blank is picked for its grain, turned and carved freehand, burnt or left natural, banded, and finished by the same pair of hands. Because nothing is jigged or duplicated, no two pieces are ever alike — when you order, you are commissioning a carving, not buying a SKU.

The Woods

Every species carved at Dano's Blunts, and why each one earns its place. Only woods with a clean record for smoking use are on this list — species whose dust or heated resins are documented irritants are deliberately left off, however beautiful they are.

Solid Stock
Root & Burl Stock

Root and burl is where a tree's growth knots into figure that cannot be predicted or repeated. It costs more, yields fewer pieces per block, and every one is unlike the last.

Commission a Carving

Build your piece: pick a wood, a length, a finish, and a band. The wheel lights up as each choice locks in. Current lead time is 3 weeks from order.

ONE AND DONE. When a band design's run is finished it is retired for good and never carved again. Within a single lot of wood a few pieces may wear the same artwork — but each is numbered against that lot (3 of 14, 4 of 14), so the image can repeat while the piece never does. The Dano's Blunts logo band is the one design that carries on, and it is serialized the same way.

Dano's Bud Review

Strains put through their paces in Dano's own hardwood — terpene profile first, then the five marks that matter: flavor, effect, burn, aroma, and smoke.

Care & Maintenance

A Dano's Blunt is built to outlive a lighter, a grinder, and most friendships — if you treat the wood right.

Pack

Firmness controls duration. Pack loose for a quick draw, firm for a long slow burn. The adjustable screen holds either style.

Draw

"Puff, puff, drag." Two short puffs prime the airflow through the chamber, then draw. Do not torch it like a pipe bowl.

Burn

Extinguish between uses. Letting it smolder unattended is the fastest way to scorch the chamber. Gentle heat in the early smokes lets the carbon layer build gradually and evenly.

Care

If the exterior ever looks dry, warm a little beeswax or carnauba wax into it with a soft cloth. A fresh wax pass restores the satin glow and keeps the grain deep and dark.

Clean

Run the chamber with a dry pipe cleaner only. Never soak the piece in water or alcohol — it strips the carbon layer you have built and the wax seal.

Store

Keep it out of direct sun and off the dashboard. Hardwood moves with heat; your band and finish will thank you.

Band artwork and inventory. Add one at a time, upload a whole folder, or run SCAN_BANDS.bat for a full bulk load from disk.

Cigar Band Inventory

Automatic (recommended): run python build_bands.py from the site folder. It walks C:/Users/danie/Sentry/Cigar_Band_Singles and every subfolder, builds the folder list from the directory names, and links each image by its folder path. Re-run it whenever you add bands, then refresh this page (Ctrl+F5). Browsers cannot read disk paths on their own — the script does the walking and hands the site a manifest.

Manual fallback: the Scan button opens a folder picker; when the browser asks to "upload" the folder, click Upload — nothing leaves your machine.

Delete permanently retires a band as you view it — it will never be shown to customers again, even after re-scanning, even if you can't delete the actual image file from disk. Check Reusable only for the Dano's Blunts logo band; every other design is one and done.

Add a New Band

For a design that hasn't gone through a folder scan yet — upload the image right here and it's added to inventory immediately, no rescan needed. It's safe from being removed by a later scan of the CIGAR_BAND_SINGLES folder.

Upload a Whole Folder of Bands

Pick a folder and every image inside it uploads and is added to inventory in one pass. Each filename becomes the design name. All of them land in the folder you choose below - to load Artistic Themed, Symbolic and Traditional in one go, run this three times, once per folder, or use SCAN_BANDS.bat for a full bulk load from disk instead.

Folder Status

Artistic Themed and Symbolic each show a roster of 24. Anything you add beyond 24 waits in reserve, hidden from customers, and promotes into the roster automatically the moment a band above it is used — so the grid never has a gap. Traditional is a fixed 24 that never rotates: those designs repeat, and every piece made is stamped with the next serial number.

Finished pieces ready to sell today. Price follows the same ladder as a commission unless you override it.

Ready-Made Shelf

Finished pieces for the In-Stock tab. The shelf price follows the same ladder as a commission — base plus the species surcharge, plus the root/burl bracket when the blank was root stock. Override any single price to mark a piece down.

Photos

Upload here and the photo is stored on the server — it appears for every visitor straight away, with no deploy. Name it the way the wood reads (Cherry Wood, Claro Walnut Root) or use the product format from PHOTO_NAMING.md. Keep files under about 850 KB.

Carving Videos

Link a video rather than upload it — host on YouTube, Vimeo, or anywhere with a direct link, and paste it here. A database is not built to hold video files, so this keeps a list of links instead.

Anyone on this list can leave a review using their first name as the code, and it goes live immediately — that is how early customers can post before checkout exists. Add a name as each new person buys a piece.

Site Visibility

What real visitors see is controlled by one line in js/config.js — change it and re-upload the site. The checkbox below only previews the placeholder in your own browser, so you can see how it looks without closing the shop. Either way you are never locked out: the "Workshop Access" link on the placeholder opens the normal admin gate.

All customer-facing prices start at $0.00. Set the base carving price and a per-wood surcharge here; the Custom Design tab and wheel update live. Cost/blank is what YOU pay per blank — it feeds the margin math in Bookkeeping and never shows to customers.

Order Backend (Optional)

If you deploy the Cloudflare Pages Function + D1 backend (see DEPLOY.md), paste the ADMIN_CODE you set there. This is separate from the shop code above — it authenticates this browser to pull orders placed on any device, not just this one. Leave blank if you haven't set up the backend yet; everything keeps working locally.

SpeciesTierSurcharge ($)Cost/Blank ($)Customer Price
Wood Tier Pricing

Set the standard surcharge for each tier once here, then click Apply to write it onto every wood's Surcharge field above (per-wood values stay editable after that if any single species needs to be different). Root/Burl form is a separate toggle customers pick on Custom Design — it stacks on top of whatever the wood's own surcharge is, using whichever bracket below fits that wood.

Production Add-Ons

Priced per piece, already accounting for these being run in a batch of 8 rather than one at a time — the hourly labor is divided across the batch.

Default Band

The house default is free to choose. Any other band a customer picks from the gallery adds a selection fee. Change the default any time - past orders are not affected.

Monthly Discounted Theme

Pick one folder as this month's special and set a discount. Customers see a banner on Custom Design when they select a band from that folder. The discount is temporary — the ONE AND DONE rule on every band is not; a discounted band is still retired for good the moment it is used.

Secret Monthly Raffle (Admin Only — Never Shown to Customers)

This is not the public Monthly Theme above. Pick one folder or one exact band as this month's hidden trigger. Nothing on the site hints it exists — no banner, no message. If a customer happens to choose the mystery band or any band from the mystery folder, their total is silently discounted at checkout, the same way the 5150 order-number win works: they find out from their own receipt, not from you. A specific band always overrides a whole folder if you set both. Default discount is 100% (comped free, "on the house" like a 5150 win) — lower it to run a partial discount raffle instead.

Data

Your shop — prices, woods, lots, bands, the shelf — saves to the server automatically whenever you change something, as long as the Backend Admin Code above is set. That is what every visitor sees. Use Test Server Connection to confirm it is working. The export below is just a local backup file; it is not how the site publishes.
